I've never fed cottonseed before, but will a typical alfalfa feeder work? I'm assuming its okay to just be left out in the elements and get wet? The All Seasons Feeder looks awfully expensive and so looking at this one:

Yeah, that will work. So will a 6 foot length of 48 inch wire fencing tied in a circle and placed over a t-post..

Get you some regular fence. Roll it up so it has 2 or 3 wraps with the middle being about 1 1/2 to 2 feet circle. Tie it so it doesn’t come unrolled drive T-post in ground tie the fence to it at the top and bottom so it can’t be hooked and flipped over, then fill it up. They love it. Or get a the bigger black syrup tub drill holes In bottom so water drains. Fill up with seed it works also. Easy and saves lots of money

We have several like this. Overlap one panel when you put it together. Easy to make and easy to replace (seldom necessary). In addition, we take them out of the pens during season, leaving less obstruction in there.

we have fed c/seed for over 60 years. Attached is a pic of our feeder style made out of V-mesh fencing. Fencing is cut to make a circle 2 - 2.5 feet across. Tied where it joins and drop over the T post. DO not tie to the post. Deer will move it as needed to get to all of it. If I move cattle into the pasture I lift the empty feeder over the post. Very simple to made and use. BTW, they eat what is on the ground as well. [Linked Image]

V mesh fencing seems hard to find these days. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

I use the wire fencing and t-post method.

If I were to buy one, I'd buy one of these.

I get it in Pearsall, Hondo, & Uvalde. If they don't have it in stock they can get it for you. Keep in mind a roll is not the standard 330 feet but 165 feet.

I was gonna say, I didn't think you could get it any more. Not many sheep and goat farmers left!

Back when I had cattle and could get it, used to feed cotton seed hulls. High in protein. Hadn’t seen them available in years. Not much cotton grown around here any more.

throw it on the ground in a pile and let them eat. If it gets wet it dries out. I use to have bins and chicken wire and for the last few years i buy 1500 totes and dump them on the ground. It is usually all gone in a about 45 days. Dont waste your money on a fancy feeder for cotton seed
