I bought an old farm truck in McKinney this week. Original title from 1986 was torn in half and taped

I've got the title and the transfer paperwork

When I had title issues before i used Today Knight services in Mabank

I need to find a place that does the title legwork so I can get a good title on this old truck

Anyone know of anywhere?

Wouldn't you go to the county to have it registered first? Transferred?

There's also this:

if the original owner is around jsut have them order a replacement. if they are not id go to txdot in perosn show what you have and see if they can print you a new one, but even with that gonna be hard to transfer. the tax office should accept the signed original title ripped or not imo.

I’d go to the tax office and be real nice. They may take it.

Doing a bonded title is no big deal, you can do it in a day. Take what you have to the DMV and tell them you want to apply for a bonded title. They will give you the bond amount and necessary paperwork. Go purchase the bond from a local bail bondsman. Then you go to the tax office with the title paperwork and bond paperwork and get your bonded title. After 3 years you can get a regular title.

You should have been here yesterday!

I've already tried, they told me I had to send in the transfer paper (130u, I believe) with the title and get a bonded title, but that the state may still decline to issue title

It's an original title issued in 1986, no telling when the last time it was registered. She couldn't find a record on the computer and told me that because it was torn in half my only option is a bonded title

Ask for her supervisor if there is one............that just doesnt make sense if being torn is the only problem.

Sounds like she is just being a pain in the arse

Those employees in the County Tax Office do seem to enjoy finding a reason to tell you no.

Go to a different Tax office. This is a state-issued title. You don't have to do it in your county.
