Been using the Hornady One Shot and it's been ok but I have to use it smart.
Want to change over to a homemade 100% Alcohol/Lanolin solution. Before I buy from Amazon, where can I find pure unrefined Lanolin Oil local to DFW?

No complaints at all other than having to line up all the brass evenly, uniform, and closer than a case block, which is time consuming.
Started getting lots of stuck factory loaded .223 Rem 1st time resized brass in the Hornady Custom Grade die. I've actually mastered the art of removing stuck cases.

Want to change over to a homemade 100% Alcohol/Lanolin solution. I'm sorry I can't answer your question but rather want to ask 2 myself. This lube you plan to make, is it applied via spray bottle? Is the ratio 1:1?

I've used the RCBS forever plus 2 days with no issues, Tried the aerosol and messed everything up with overspray and trying to clean my trays, tried the Lee, it's ok, currently using the Imperial. Really like it so far. Goes a long way. When I run out of the little tin can in another coupla decades, I'll report back

I’ve been using one shot at least ten years and only one stuck case, which was my fault. I was trying to get the last bit out of a can. That didn’t go well.
I do use a heavier lube when necking down such as .358 down to .338.

Is the ratio 1:1? Yes, and it's what I use. But you have to warm it up first. I put the spray bottle in a bowl of water. Bowl on an electric hot plate. When it's warm, shake the bottle very well. Cases standing in the loading block. Spray, rotate 180°, spray. Let it dry. The alcohol dries off in about one minute. Slickest case lube I have ever used.

Started with some kind of grease looking stuff spread on a pad in late 60's but it's One Shot for last 12-15 years for most of my reloading. Spray it on brass with 30-40 degree angle so little bit goes inside neck while in reloading blocks outside on porch, turn 180 and spray again then let dry for a while before sizing.

Imperial sizing wax, or Hornady Unique. Never a stuck case, they last a long time.

I had trouble finding lanolin locally in Katy. Save your gas and let Amazon get it to you. Get the HEET from Walmart. This spray bottle is chemical and alcohol resistant….works great. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/08/full-4665-397546-img_0534.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/08/full-4665-397547-img_0533.jpeg) Works great and very affordable. Imperial sizing wax, Hornady Unique, and One Shot is what is on my bench. I use the One Shot when I load in batches of 50, which is what I load most often. I did get a few dented necks from using too much when I first used One Shot. I apply it with the cases in a loading block like already detailed. I’ve also dumped the cases in a ziplock and sprayed a little one shot in and tumbled them around which works as well and does not leave my loading blocks oily. If I’m just sizing 20 or less, I still use Hornady Unique or Imperial. I rub it on with my fingers.
Will be mixing some of this up as soon as I gather the supplies.

J Hills. The heat is the carrier of the lanolin. In solution the lanolin is applied to the cases. The alcohol(heet) evaporates leaving the lanolin on the cases as a lubricant. I have used 91%alcohol with success.
I found lanolin at the local health foods store in the part of the store that smell like horse liniment.

Yes Red HEET is 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and is the solvent that Papalote mentioned. It works better than 91% rubbing alcohol because it evaporates faster. Mix 1 bottle of red HEET with 2 ounces liquid lanolin. Shake before use. It’s very long lasting, not sure if it goes bad ever. The chemical guys bottle works well with alcohol, less expensive ones may get soft or the pumps fail.
I’m a Hornady OneShot user with very good results but this home made version is much slicker going thru the dies.

Lee case lube in ratio with rubbing alcohol mixed in my own spray bottle. Similar to the lanolin/alcohol method, WAY cheaper than One Shot (and .223 REM will stick with One Shot), and no neck dents like Imperial can cause.
Pass the gravy.

Imperial sizing wax been using it for years and as someone has already said it lasts a long time.

Good info in this thread. Lubing cases have never been a big deal or problem for me, but lubing inside the case necks have always been something I hate. I use a nylon brush with some case lube. Most of my dies use a inside sizer button .

Most of my dies use a inside sizer button . Since I FL size 2000-5000 pieces of brass a year, ain't nobody got time for that. Take your decapping stem out of your die, and polish it to chrome finish on a cotton buffing wheel on your bench grinder, with buffing compound. Arrange 50 brass in a load block that is ONLY for lubricating rifle brass. Use a spray lubricant. All big time savers.

HEET is 99% Isopropyl alcohol. Using store bought rubbing alcohol (70%) will lead to the Lanolin separating. If you can find medical grade Iso it will also work since it usually 99% too. Dillon lube is exactly this. With any of these type of lubes the alcohol will evaporate in the spray bottles if stored hits way and the bottles collapse inward.
I started with the Lee pad, moved to the Dillon spray, and for tough cases use Imperial sizing wax. I have also used Mobil One for some really tough machine gun fired LC 7.62x51 but that was a one off and I planned to wet tumble to get rid of the oil afterward.
A note since there is a thread on cleaning dies, I have found that you should squirt this lanolin mixture into the die before you size the first case.
