Small museum but full of great exhibits.

Fantastic collection of firearms from the old west. Winchesters, Sharps,Colts,Brownings, Remingtons and others,
Many items from the cowboy era of the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Many items from the Mountain men era and items from the Ute Native Americans. Items of Buffalo Bill and lesser known but interesting characters from that area.

Fossils of many varieties and bones etc. from mammoths and other prehistoric mammals.

Interesting histories and exhibits of the railroads and stage lines in that area. (The last U.S.stagecoach line shut down in 1914.)

Western art, stuffed big game and the world's largest watercolor painting- done by a local artist.

The director is a young man from Texas and it is obvious he loves his job. He gave us great stories about some of the people represented in the museum.
If you've never heard of Queen Ann Bassett of Brown's Park you're in for a great story involving Tom Horn. This is also the area where Butch Cassidy spent some time.

The museum is free but donations are welcome.

If you're in the area elk hunting or just passing through it is well worth a visit.

Really cool town. Probably before the museum was there, but I remember going to the rodeo in Craig many years ago as a kid with my dad. Every time I see the movie Red Dawn, it reminds me of Craig. Hell, maybe it was even filmed there.

Several cool small towns in northwest Co. Just for the heck of it I looked it up. Red Dawn (1984) was filmed around Las Vegas, New Mexico.
