Thinking about checking into having a company put in solar panels on my casa, wondering if anyone knows of a good outfit that does a fair price and doesn't laugh all the way to the bank. To where I have a chance to break even in a reasonable amount of time.
I'm out here on Lake Ray Roberts.

Don't do it unless you own and paid for the entire system. You sell back your KW's to the power company and they pay you pennies on the dollar for your power.
Ask them what the true up costs are at the end of the year. Yes true up costs, you could be owing them at the end of the year. Happened to a friend of mine he owed almost $700.00 at the end of the year for his solar. The answer he got from the solar company was "Electricity isn't free."
Selling your house with solar is a whole bunch of phone calls, emails and paperwork to transfer to new owner.
I also have a friend who is an electrical contractor and he said stay away from solar.
Proceed with caution.

IF you don't have shade issues, put up a ground mounted system and you can use Bifacial panels you'll generate watts from both sides.

With Pv modules still near historic low prices, "virtual tracking" with panels (facing different directions) makes more sense than ever. And yes, ground mount eliminates so many potential problems.

Jay You will hit a fork in the decision process about batteries or not. Do you expect to get power from your system when the grid is down? Be clear in expressing what you expect and get it in writing. Marc
