Picked up an old set of Weld wheels for next to nothing but they were in rough shape. Scrubbed with hot water and dawn then sanded with a random orbital starting with 80 grit then 120, 180, 220, 320, 440, 600, 800 and finally 1000 grit. Then buffed with White Diamond metal polish. Need to go back with some Nevr Dull to make them shine but so far I'm happy with the results. 3 more to go.

Do yourself a favor and have them clear powder coated to keep that shine forever

THIS

Just make sure there's no fingerprints, etc.

Pass the gravy.

Yea I polished a barrel, magwell, and controls on a Glock 34 before and those small pieces took me hours. Can’t imagine what these taking. Good job.

A little over a year later......jeez I need to have fewer projects. Not show quality but a nice 10 foot job. I'm gonna try to get them mounted this week.

It's a '76 F250. Another work in progress. Currently have the brake lines off, need to bend new ones and rebuilt the front hubs and it'll be road worthy again. Still have a lot of body work to do though.

I can appreciate the amount of work and time you put into those wheels. Great looking job.

Before mounting those wheels take them to the powder coated and have a clear gloss aPlied so you never have to polish them again.

I really don't know how powder coating a polished surface works out or if you can even do it.

You can. I had a set of Billet Specialties powder coasted a high gloss clear because I hated cleaning them. Makes the surface as easy to clean as chrome, but keeps the polished look

They can be coated clear, and it works well. I order my heavy trucks and trailers with Alcoa Al wheels, and you can have the option of coating from the factory. It will last several years as long as the drivers dont put acid on them.
