How do y’all find hunting permission? And should the place I go to be a house on the property or if the owner lives in a neighborhood should I go to his house?

All you can do is ask. Worst they can say is no.

I find permission with cash, check or some other form of payment.

Offer to help them out on weekends. Chores around the house, bale hay, mow, cut firewood, etc.

Most if not all counties have a County Tax Appraisal website with online maps that you can use to identify property owners and their contact information so that you can send them a letter. Also, once you have a name, you can use social media and other online resources to identify their email address or even a telephone number. Of course, you could always just knock on their door but in today's world, people can be quickly turned off by anyone who becomes so forward in their approach. And this is especially true for those who live in the country and like lots of space. Whatever communication route you choose, your choice of words in presenting yourself and asking permission is paramount.
