To start with. It is by its very nature 'experimental' for the purpose. Cost $1M for that stretch of buoys.....but worth it IF it deters a significant amount of people.

Saw an interview with DPS Capt, believe he said it will be a 1000 yards, they also mentioned there was some type of obstacle underneath, but didn't elaborate on it. Photo of them on a crane didn't show anything attached at that point.

Heard mention of 'netting' but didn't see any such thing on what has been installed (to date). That (netting) would be fraught with problems I would imagine.

The very first person to drown from an encounter with the barricade will have Mexico (and all bleeding hearts) screaming about it.

I'm all for any measures taken to stem the flow of 'migrants' but ultimately ONLY a change in the administration in Washington and a return to dedicated border security will ever fix this fiasco. Then a ROBUST deportation program needs to go into effect.

$1,000,000 for 1000 feet. That's about $5,000,000 a mile.

Quote
Department of Public Safety Chief Steve McCraw told reporters the first batch of buoys, around 1,000 feet in length, will be deployed July 7 near Eagle Pass. He said the first round of buoys cost "under a million dollars."

If anyone thinks that this is anything more than pandering to the voters, they’re delusional. This will do nothing but waste even more tax dollars. And for the hopeful, “at least their doing something,” crowd, you’re the most delusional of all. Until you start shooting every single one as they step foot across the border, nothing changes. They’ve already caught onto the political ponzi scheme and realize that there’s no real consequences.

None of it matters, though. We’ve already lost that war. There’s too many already here. Tomorrow, you could put a stop to the last one crossing that border, legally or illegally. Look around. They’re everywhere. They’ve already taken over. And what did they do to Mexico? The same thing they are doing here. They don’t care about the future, or rights, or preserving America. They are here to rape and pillage, and they’re doing a damn fine job of it. They breed like rabbits and pass along their destructive ways to their hoards of minions. This doesn’t get better, people.

True...but the marine/military version has spikes all over it. These don't. All they do is 'rotate'.

Put a person on top of the 'ball' with their weight past the center point and it will actually HELP you across by dumping you on the other side.

I can only see them being useful in waters deep enough to require swimming. Many crossings on the Rio Grande are waist deep or less. Some places ankle deep.

I can see it being a psychological barrier to some....but not so much a physical barrier.

Those animals stuff themselves into semi trailers, dashboards, crawl through tunnels, pay people off, etc. You’re right to be skeptical about this. It does NOTHING. Much like our governor. It’s useless.

I hope that is wrong....but it would certainly be a monumental task, since we don't even know where most of them are.

We need 83,000 border patrol and ICE agents....NOT new IRS agents.

Yes, we do. Too bad it will never happen.

If we could stop all wire $ transfers to Mexico or charge a tax of 25% on them I think a lot of this would dwindle down. I think if they tried to personally carry the $ back they would probably get robbed.

So we should just stop and let thousands pour over the border into Texas? I'm good with stopping what we can. Don't you find it funny that the masses show up at the crossings with the most network TV cameras?

I see it as a migration of a species, caused by the collapse of a government - ours. 'Best you can hope for is to plan and protect your family to mitigate some of the consequences.

Of course not. I just didn’t think spending millions on pool floats is going to get it done.

Great idea, way to go Abbot. Not absolute or foolproof but it will definitely be a deterrent to future trespassing.

Probably hard, molded plastic or rubber so it would take many bullet holes to do any damage.

That and learn Spanish....if you don't already speak it.

Because the 'immigrants' sure as hell don't plan on 'assimilating' and I expect WE will be the minority in the near future.
