Seems I can buy new equipment cheaper than getting it fixed. $550 to fix a backpack blower and $210 to fix an Echo stick edger

I don’t use them enough to justify fixing or buying gas replacements especially with battery technology being where it’s at. I’d like a system where I can change out heads vs having to buy 3 different pieces of equipment. Prefer a brand that also has a chainsaw

WORX brand has done me good.

Battery is good in a pinch/smaller jobs.

Just depends on what you need it to do.

Battery is the only way to go with a leaf blower. I have an Ego brand and it'll blow the wings off a fly at 40'. The rest of their equipment is also rated top-notch.

I borrowed a buddy's Ego leaf blower a while back before I bought my current blower. WAO, it got about 15 minutes on a full charge. I went with gas.

DeWalt and I use them just about every day at the ranch. I even have one of their battery powered pressure washers.

I've got an EGO lawnmower and leaf blower. Starting my 3rd summer season with the mower and the 4th with the leaf blower. No issues.

I purchased a Ryobi 40v trimmer and liked it so much I got the edger. Still on the original Ryobi battery that came with the trimmer. 4th season for it.

I like being able to fold up the mower and store it next to the car. No oil/gas to leak out. No priming. No gas can needed. No spark plugs to foul. Leave the battery on the charger; throw it in, pull the trigger/bail, and get er done. Almost zero maintenance other than sharpening the mower blade and putting in new string, which you would do on a gas mower.

Now, I live in town on a small residential lot. These things are not meant for 5 acre estates. Use common sense.

Same here, my Ego blower will run 45-60 min on one battery. Way more powerful than the Stihl it replaced.

I’ve seen tv commercials for rechargeable Zero turn mowers. Must be some big batteries.

Have both Milwaukee and dewalt battery operated tools. Both have served me well, until batteries die. $100+ each to have batteries replaced at batteries plus in Sherman. Still use them and always will, just wish batteries were cheaper.

That’s cheaper than having a gas powered one fixed.

Why not gas?

I’ve had great service from an Echo gas trimmer and edger for over 12 years. Parts are cheap, Amazon sells tune up kits, carbs, everything.

And, more power from gas units.

Just switched to battery weed eater and it was life changing. Got the blower too

I’ve been through those China carbs. They last a few uses then stop working. My edger, weed eater, and blower are 22 years old.

I doubt you get 22 years from an electric unit. Just saying.

stay with gas. dont musk out.22 years aint bad. bout what i had on the last echo weedeater. tried one china carb and said ef it and bought a new unit. 20 years more and i wont care.

I am Ego on everything now - chain saw, weed eater, blower, etc. I have two batteries and just switch them out when needed - All perform well

Did you hear yourself say the gas units lasted 22 years? You’re young enough to pull the rope on a new one a few more years.

If you must get a battery unit I have a unique experience. We use leaf blowers in the paper mill for housekeeping where it’s always over 100° and foggy. The units stay in that environment all the time although the batteries are kept in the labs. Also they are severely abused. We have probably used 6 different brands and the only one that holds up to the abuse is the Skil. Most brands last a few weeks, the Skil units are almost a year old at this point. I’m going to say they also get dropped or thrown a couple of times a week.

They are not the best leaf blowers as far as blowing, that title easily goes to the big Kobalt which they discontinued. I think it was an 80v. They do have good battery life.

Echo brand parts.

Electric ones are nice but they’re planned obsolescence. Look at what’s happened with drills, etc. They offer package deals with one battery and additional batteries cost more than the package. Then a year later a new line comes out with a higher, different voltage system.
