Math teacher once said, “when you get to the right answer, stop.”

Partitions is all I shoot for hunting rifles. (Accubonds in the 7mag is the one exception)

It’s a proven design, no need to look for greener pastures imho.

While I certainly can agree with that logic the biggest enemy of excellence is being good enough. Partitions are great but that doesn't mean there isn't or won't be something better.

Don’t disagree with you, heard stories about some of the PHs in Africa disallowing you from shooting partitions on certain game, preferring copper solids instead.

Lot of target bullets getting re-labeled as hunting bullets when they really aren’t.

Just a sales gimmick.

There are also lots of labeled target bullets, that work great for hunting.

The Hornady A-max was one of the best.

I shoot a decent amount of hogs at my place using either one of the three above or a 300 ham’r with 130gr hot cor, a 243 with plain old 100 gr power points from the 90’s, or a 45-70 using 325 gr ftx.

What I have been noticing is with the ham’r, 243, or 45-70 more often than not any hog I shoot falls dead where it stands. Like 90% of them don’t move more than 5’. With the ELD-X the hogs die but more often than not they are running off anywhere from 25-100 yards.

Again I know animal to animal varies, shot placement is huge, etc but over the past 20 or so hogs I have shot I have noticed the above.I have had three hogs shot with an ELD-X that I knew I hit and saw blood and I never found them. I haven’t lost a hog yet shot with the other bullets. Is this all in my head or are others having issues with these bullets?

I'll take your 143gr 6.5 ELD-X Creedmoor projectiles if you don't like them.

I’ve had excellent results with the ELD-X, from deer to moose.

I've been shooting the 143eldx in my 260ai since they came out. I typically only get an exit with a lower chest (heart) shot. On every shot I've taken, internal damage has been very impressive, but I have gotten multiple instances of core/jacket separation. On occasions where I haven't gotten an exit, blood trails are minimal at best. Despite not having consistent pass throughs and experience the jacket separation I still like the bullets as they're very accurate in my rifle.

Slow em down, and you'll probably get exits.

.260 A.I. I bet the muzzle velocity is quite fast.

I'd like to see what a .260 A.I. can send a 156 gr Berger EOL.

Im about to start to like them, they are available and I think at 2900 FPS, they will work well. I have just started finding a load for the 6GT, and it seems to shoot them well. I did this ladder test at 200 with 108eldm, looks like I need to move to 500 to see good results. I ran the same powder charges with the other available bullets, Berger 105 VLD. A decision awaits. First ladder test I have ever done, I have always been in the shoot several combos of groups when finding loads.

300 yards is not enough distance for a ladder test, with a great shooting rifle. Ask me how I know.

500 yards, or greater, for a ladder test is now my policy.

300 Norma Mag and 250 A-tips I shot a ladder test at 700 yards. I would have done it at 800 yards, but 800 is not in the sun all day.

Im doing 500 yds on the same charges next, I really didn’t expect this result, new rifle with a cartridge I had zero experience with, live and learn I suppose.

Now you know.

Ladder less than 500 yards is a waste of time and components.

Unless the rifle is a P.O.S., then you can do 300 yards.

Seems like a reloading topic.

Pass the gravy.

That 800 in the shade made me suck worse than normal.

Ya gotta brush it off. Can still see the target clearly. FOCUS!

Those are nice 200 yd groups even if it wasn't a ladder. Looks like you're going to do well with that combination.
