Wish they'd say what it was, and if it definitely came from the racoon.

If you have ever looked at the teeth on an old boar coon, you will understand that the possibilities are unlimited for all sorts of infections to occur. They don't participate in a regular dental hygiene program. I have felt quite a few of them from personal experience in my younger days while chasing hounds all across Bastrop, Lee, Milam, and Brazos County.

The only way I trap them corn thieves is in a Dukes dog proof trap, then pop them and wait until I know that bastage is dead before removing from trap.

Like Stub, I don’t handle the live ones.
Not my monkeys, not my circus...

An ole he coon is a dangerous critter. You also have to worry about fleas, mange, etc. Wear rubber gauntlets when handling a lot of critters. Now a days the fur is worthless. I'm not sure on the legality of selling the meat but there used to be some backwoods types that would pay you $10 for a cleaned coon. Live coons- some houndsman might want one to train dogs but they probably get there own. Turn it into a pet? They bite a lot. Way up north they hibernate- get rid of them for the winter.
