My daughter wants to leave teaching. Looks like she's serious this time. She has been on IN NEED had interviews and offers, but those jobs are the ones no one wants $20 an hour jobs. can anyone recommend a good headhunter in the area. Not sure what area or work.
Are there even still "headhunters"?

Check with Bobo on what professional headhunters do. I’m unsure if they work like that.

Tell her to look up Learning Experience Designing. Every major corporation has roles in that field. She would be developing corporate curriculum and trainings. Starting roles would pay significantly more than most teaching fields as well.

Buzz, there aren’t as many headhunters as there once was. I was one for years and retired while I still had $ because clients turned to the internet for talent.
And today, not as many companies are looking for people to train. That costs money. You have to have specific experience(almost square peg for a square hole) that matches their needs. Or, know somebody.
How it works: All resumes have to go through personnel. The document is scanned looking for the buzzwords that are specifically germane to their wants and needs. The resume is given a numerical rating. After they get the resumes that pass the software test, they finally are looked at by a person in Human Resources(Personnel). They determine EEOC stuff that, in certain cases, can give a higher score. And, the info is kept for EEOC purposes.
Those that have the highest score are forwarded to the hiring official for his/her review.

This^^ She'll have to enlist professional resume writing so her resume gets hits on the "Buzz Words" to get a chance for a face to face interview. She may have to reinvent herself with her educational background. The 2 worst things are looking for a job and moving. Good luck to her.

I teach in a relatively good district and we have had a record number of teachers leave the profession the last couple years. Many seem to be going into project management.

The SO made this same transition a year ago and all the skills from teaching are transferable into that kind of role.

Side note.
These school districts need dress codes for teachers. To many purple hairs and nose rings in the classrooms.

These school districts need dress codes for teachers. To many purple hairs and nose rings in the classrooms. So a topic that proves how hard it is to hire teachers births a comment that districts should be more strict on the appearance of the teachers. I still have two kids in public school and it's the quality (or lack thereof) and the lack of experience I'm concerned with. It's so much more of a factor right now than appearance, I can't even describe it.
Pass the gravy.

My 14 year old daughter, last week, told me one of her teachers (whom is only 22 years old) tells her class that the U.S. never really landed on the moon. I asked my daughter "you know that is nonsense, right?" She said that teacher has done and said several things that the smart kids learned to not take her seriously. Thank God we are raising that girl to come talk to us and ask us questions, instead of blindly believing teachers and school administrators.

The teaching profession has seen similar downgrade in stature and mystique similar to fight stewardesses in the 60s/70s. What was once cool and held in decent regard has become watered down and not worth the hassle and headaches nowadays. Tons of turnover and why you see so many young ones in the ranks. Those that can get out financially, have.

Teachers need to act and look professional. They need to set the example for YOUR kids. They should also be compensated much more than they currently are.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect. Some people live an entire lifetime & wonder if they ever made a difference in the world, a veteran doesn't have that problem. Reagan

The problem/situation about teachers pay is that they teach/work 9 months and have to live 12. And they pick that profession knowing it. They could take a part time summer job but those seldom pay very well.
And, they go into the profession knowing it. So, what can they whine about?
I taught computer science part time, at night, in a Junior College. It didn’t pay much but I took the job knowing that.

Districts compete to see who can spend the most money building stadiums, instead of competing to see who can pay their teachers the best.

Plano isd constructed an arts center that’s almost unusable, 65 million dollars. Building issues. Teachers need a neat and uniform appearance. This will keep the undesirable from joining. They have joined by the thousands and have moved up to principals and managers. Thus, keeping good conservative teachers from wanting to be around them. What liberal don’t want a job with summers off, indoctrinate, wear blue jeans and keep their purple hair and nose rings.

I was a headhunter for 28 years…..Mr. Davidson is spot on. Also, and VERY IMPORTANT, if she finds a headhunter she needs to instruct them to never present her credentials without getting with her first. Duplicate resumes from headhunters are an immediate NO for the hiring customer, they will chit can the resume.

I think that before a headhunter can provide any sort of help, your daughter needs to figure out what she wants to do. Kind of impossible for them to help find a job without knowing the candidate’s qualifications, desires, and skills.
