I have a Christiansen with carbon fiber barrel. Last nilgai hunt I really learned my suppressor needs to be on it permanently. But it’s so dang long! I know I’ll lose about 100fps going to 20” or so. Is it a bad idea?

I say not a bad idea. Im spoiled on suppressors at this point, and have been going 22” on my barrels. My 300 PRC will get shortened from 24” to 22” soon. It makes 2882 fps with 225 ELDM’s, and the barrel will speed up in another 60 rounds or so. I can live with the slight loss. The only thing about having that carbon barrel, is that it will cost you a barrel swap. I know two smiths that experimented and shortened CF barrels, they worked, but shot way worse afterwards.

Shorter barrel + suppressor is always a good idea to hunt with.
