We’re going to have an eight-week Sporting Clays and 5-Stand league; the dates will be May 10th to July 2nd. The league will consist of 5 man squads to qualify for the banquet bracket battle at the end of the league. You can register as a full team or as an individual and we will try to set you up with a team if one is available. You’ll be given two Pre-shoots, a make-up, and a bank shoot for the league.

Pricing:
$45 Trophy fee – non-negotiable one time payment.
$138 – For the full eight weeks.
$18.05/week – if you prefer to pay on a weekly basis instead.
$5 golf cart fee per person
Pre-shoot:
If you’re unable to attend one of the of the weeks for shooting you can shoot for score ahead of time.
Make-up:
If you missed a week you’ll be able to use the makeup to replace the week you missed.
Bank:
You can use this to replace any zeros you may have. You can only purchase one Bank per season, it’s also not required of you.

Tonight we shot our first round & it was sporting clays . 2nd round will be 5-stand & alternate every week

only 4 out of 5 - shot tonight - our 5th shooter (josh ) is getting over his 3rd go around of covid - he should shoot this weekend

Not sure when scores will be posted - probably not till week 2 or 3

the 4 that shot tonight did really well

it was all good except as we finished and heading back to clubhouse it DUMPED big time . soaking wet by the time we got to our trucks.

scores w/handicaps finally posted

we have completed 3 weeks of shooting w/ week 4 starting tomorrow (a 5stand set)

these are 5 man teams with a possible 250 if everyone shot a perfect set (that isn't going To happen)

we try to stay in the top 8 teams that will shoot finals - and the higher you are seeded the better

so at end of week 3 standings are:



1st - 700/750

2nd- 695/750

3rd- 692/750 ( team scrubs)

4th- 684/750(Team Average) Another team with THF members

5th- 672/750

then on down to 20th team

How is the handicap calculated?

I have never gotten a good answer on this

The software on the scorechaser app they use calculates the handicap on a weekly basis ( for every week we shoot)

so handicap is not set in stone(floating from week to week - ie my guess its based on a curve of all shooters)

On final Night all handicap go away

Well Today was one of those days where i wanted to take a expensive shotgun and wrap it around a metal pole & just walk away and never come back.

The 2 -5stand courses we shot today just ate my lunch and the longer we shot the worse it got.

I was not the only victim.

I am not sure where it will drop us too in standings

But where ever we wind up at is 100% my fault

nothing i did seemed to make it any better

I just hate doing that to our team


One of the team members called me and explained " its over & done with - just move on" That's fine if I can fix the problem

Don't take your last match feeling to your next match. As far as a team were fine. I also shot the worst I ever have it was not just you. But I can promise if you take this weeks match in you head into next week. It won't help. CALM DOWN things will sort out. I have seen you shoot you will be fine. They are clay targets don't over think it. That why I like true pairs.

Im new to sporting clays. But I have been shooting comps since I was 6 or 7 years old. I can't tell you a lot about shooting clays but I can tell you about the mental part to shooting. What you have shot is over with. All that matters is what you have to shoot.

5 stand is a completely different animal. Don't let it get to ya. Sporting clays is really repetitive, making it a lil easier (in my mind) to have a greater score.

Given the difficulty of the targets, I was somewhat satisfied with last nights scores. 19 and 20 I think? Can't remember, but my squad didn't do too well as a group.

After meltdown on week 4 - 5stand it knocked "team scrubs down to 4th

1st - 916
2nd - 912
3rd - 910
4th - 908 (team Scrubs)

We went into the week 8 points from 1st. We are still 8 points from 1st. Were still doing ok

It's ok, I cost our team a TON of birds at the New Hope Equine Fund raiser at Fossil Point. I'm shooting in their 15th anniversary tournament on the 18th. Hope to do much better.

well i have not updated this in a while - mostly due to scores not being posted in a timely manner.

We have reached the end of the 8-week league of sporting clays & 5stand on a rotating format

The object is to be in the top 8 of 20 teams at the end in order to qualify for the final shoot off.

We did that !!

we varied between 2nd seed & 8th seed.

and at the end we are exactly in the middle as 4th seed

Everything resets to 0 & all handicaps go in the trash.

Basically, you run what you brung.

shoot off will be Thursday July 13th.

Seeding works: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5 - 8 teams in. after 1st round 4 are eliminated. 2nd round 4 teams & 2 will be eliminated. 3rd round 2 teams & 1 will be eliminated.

but its not only me :

The Good/Bad/Ugly

Short version we were seeded 4th & finished 4th.

1st round we beat a team we should not have - by 1 point (8 teams in & 4 moved on)

2nd round we lost to a team we should not have (4 teams in & 2 move on - what comes around go's around)

3rd round final 2 teams split for 1st & 2nd

then it was getting late & they decided not to have a shoot off for 3rd - they did a combined score for everything that we shot before & we lost on that deal(would have preferred a shoot off)

I am done for a while - putting away shotgun until September.

it was 104 degrees when i drove in - and at 9pm was still pushing 100 degrees.


I do want to say thanks to all of team members(scrubs) for shooting league with me .

can't do that heat anymore, even though I'm striper fishing next Friday and shooting in a Police fund raiser SC tourney 8/18 . The things we do to scratch these pesky itches
