Looking to build a 40’x60’ Building wood framed and siding

How many piers would you say I would need? Every 10’ or so?

How deep would y’all recommend.

Thanks

A quality engineered foundation plan isn’t that much $$$. Probably cheaper than getting bad info from here and then having to redo it

Our house is just over 4,300 square feet of foundation, garage and porches included, and I believe we have 89 piers.

Depending on the soil you are building on, you may not need piers. Spread footings and grade beams may be enough.

Just on piers , no concrete slab. Don’t mind over doing it.

You can buy a book for cheap at Home Depot Lowe’s etc that will tell you what you can span with what size and type of wood for each use, as in floor joists ceiling joists rafters etc. Google will tell you the same.

Your GC should be able have a soil test done. He will have a foundation engineer use that test to design your piers including size, depth, location, steel design and concrete mix design including PSI. Foundation engineer will also need building design and material used to calculate load.
