I struck out in NM as well.

Good luck on that hunt ScrapIron. I put in for the late rifle Burro Mountains Coues deer hunt as my first choice. Second and Third were both 20%+ draw odds hunts and I still didn't draw a single tag. Never expect a Pronghorn or Elk tag anymore but would have been nice. Oh well. Utah and Kansas application deadlines are next week. One is a shot in the dark, the other I am a shoe in. So now need to start deciding if I'm going to just burn my Arizona deer points or if I feel like going all the way to Montana or South Dakota for a pronghorn.

Starting to look like I'll be hunting OK, KS, and maybe Nebraska this year if the rest of my draws fall the same way as NM.

No tag for me...Buddy's kids each drew a youth Mule Deer tag so I will likely go and help them out.

kiowa National grasslands, I’d call and as about roads and if you can use a UTV in that unit.

Anyone know of any place or person from that would rent me an ATV/UTV and a trailer for 10 days? It could be anywhere from Amarillo to Albuquerque to Reserve. I can't find anywhere or anyone.

Edit: they replied they are just a regular dealer and don't rent nor do they know of anywhere that does.

If anyone on here knows of an ATV/UTV and trailer that would otherwise be going unused this September please send me a message. I drew a Gila archery tag and don't want to tow something 4,000+ miles across the country and back.

Thanks! The kids are really excited and of course we are too. I learned a couple years ago how fun and sometimes frustrating it is to hunt with a kid on the gun. It is super rewarding when they get it done though and you sit down together to some seared tenderloin and taters to celebrate. Really looking forward to the trip!

You should have a great hunt in 47. I would suggest to call and/or stop by the Kiowa and Rita Blanca office in Clayton, NM. Visit Kiowa Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) to download a map showing the legal roads to travel. You will see many two track roads on the ground that are not on the map - don't be caught using those roads, even if they don't have signage indicating 'road closed'.

They have been working with New Mexico BHA for three years now on fencing modifications to allow for easier pronghorn movement between pastures and hopefully will start seeing the fruit of their labor if it ever rains again.
