i shoot a Remington 1100 with its original choke...just bought Cabela's Choke Tube for Hevi-Shot ...in Modified as well...should i be expecting to see a difference? FYI: my shottie is an early 1986 model and the choke has never been replaced. productive purchase?

Have you patterned you original choke? If so, did you like the pattern? If you like the way the original performs there is no point in getting an aftermarket choke. If there are problems with the original, an aftermarket choke may or may not improve the performance. You should also try the chokes with different ammo, since some shells pattern better than others.

i've never patterned it...but i do know that its not a very good pattern since i tend to miss more often than with my mossberg or benelli...which is why i just bought a new choke...but i really need to pattern it before i completely replace/get rid of it...so that i'm at ease knowing what the problem was.

I bet that 1100 is defective

I'll give you a $100 bucks for it.

There are several factors I use to determine when/why I need a new tube.

1: Pattern
2: Type of or density of shot

I always shoot extended tubes in my waterfowl guns because I am generally shooting steel Wingmaster HD or Hevi-shot and I feel they offer better protection to the barrel.

With lead the only time I will buy an extended or aftermarket tube is to get the desired pattern for what I doing, whether it is sporting clays, pheasant or dove.

I mainly shoot Invector + barreled guns, so usually on full set of extended tubes is all I really need.

The Cabela's tubes are made by Carlson's and most if not all aftermarket tubes are made to tighter tolerances and out of higher quality materials, generally stainless steel, so buying an aftermarket tube is really never a bad decision.

Kind of funny to go out and get another choke before you even know what the current one is doing. Saying you miss more with this gun that others could mean a lot of things and the choke isnt the first place I would start looking. I would pattern the gun though...sometimes just the act of doing that will tell you that your gun might be shooting "off target".

HAYRAKER: good one...but i think i'd rather take my chances.

DELTA WATERFOWL: i completely agree...i didnt think i'd go wrong with an aftermarker choke anyway...especially at $30.

MARCSTAR: i patterned my 1100 today and it shoots off to the right...so i'm hoping that my new choke can somewhat correct that. u think it would? it should arrive tomorrow...so ill update my results.

thanks guys for ur input.
