I have a question....Why are you feeding both protein pellets and cotton seed?

You should get a break soon with spring green up.

I have a question....Why are you feeding both protein pellets and cotton seed? Start out with Cottonseed only at the end of January. Fatten them up after the rut and winter. Protein gets filled up March 1 and cottonseed continues to be maintained. Will feed pellets through the end of June and then cottonseed only during the long dry summer. Protein goes back in the mix in September as bucks look to bulk up in anticipation of the rut. All to be gone by the start of season. We don't do no free choice during season.

Sounds like a well thought out plan. They have hammered the cottonseed, impressive.

That cottonseed was filled to the top March 3rd. Most of the consumption of it has taken place in the last two weeks.

I put out feed on monday after not being at the ranch in over a month. Feeders have been empty pretty much the whole time.
I filled up my 2 and as I was driving away deer were walking out of the brush coming to eat.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I've had that happen on several occasions at my place south of Ozona. Standing 30-40 yards away while filling feeder, pull out and close the gate and they were 10 yards and then in the pen by the time I got in the truck.

Been greening up real nice for the past couple of months. My deer are almost completely off of protein, but they are still hitting the wheat some.

We need some rain that will produce forbs before the real heat gets here and fries them. Best thing possible for those fawns in the womb.

Hud, tell me about the concrete under the corn feeder. You pour it, by size to fit underneath?
