I'm looking for a 20' container for our little piece of land in Oklahoma. Long story short, my oldest is autistic and doesn't do well with storms. We've got a canvas tent that we use when out there, but am needing a reasonably bulletproof structure that isn't going to break the bank. I'll insulate it, but it will primarily be used for storage and a safe place to go in case of emergency. If you've got one laying around, please reach out. Thanks!

You probably need to go to a dealer. They haul and set them.
If you haven’t had one, assure that the place you put it is absolutely flat and can’t shift. Else, you won’t get the doors to open or close properly.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Be prepared for some sticker shock if you go the dealer route, containers have jumped 75-150% in the past 3-5 years; I've been in the market for one myself and they have jumped more than home housing...

Agree on sticker shock. I bought a single trip, 20' in 2019 for I believe $2400 delivered. Purchased an exact duplicate from same dealer in 2022 and it was $3700.

If you can hold out a little longer, you can probably save some money.
Since the FarceyFlu slowdown, there are literally thousands of empty shipping containers sitting in Chinese ports. At this point, they are not wanting the empties returned so they should start piling up in US ports before too long.

Good thinking Vern. I'm not in a huge rush, just thought if someone had one sitting around, but if I can hold out that might be a better option. I priced them a couple of years ago from a dealer and then a couple of weeks ago, and I don't really feel like spending $3500-$4k for a 20' container.
Thanks for the input guys.

In the fall of 2020, my buddy and I were looking at a 40' for about $3500 delivered. That's crazy that's what the 20' ones are going for now.
There's a posting here on THF for a 40' for $4000. Not sure how the Hell you'd move that on your own.

The cost of shipping them back is more than a new one these days. So many have been dumped on the side of the road down south, they’ve been used to build the border wall

Check out FB marketplace. I've been seeing them on there for $2000-$2500 (sometimes less).
