I got my son one of these and it is one of our most accurate shooting rifles we have , 270.

Before they quite making them, it used to be Marlin XL7 or XS7.

after you change out the trigger on the ruger American, you could of just bought a tikka.

I got a Tikka T3x w/ a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 in 30-06 at the end of this season. I like my Rem 700 in Rem 7mm Rem Mag, so I might be selling the Tikka. Super awesome rifle. That is not a beater/loaner. Really good gun for someone to hunt with for a long time.

I was looking for a truck gun a couple years ago and looked at several of the less expensive guns. I ended up with a T/C Compass Utility in 308 Win. Academy had a sale on them and it ran me $241 out the door.


I had an old Nikon 4X scope in the gun cabinet so all I had to do was get some rings and mount it up. I handload and settled on this load (and yes I know I spelled Barnes wrong):


I am really happy with this rifle. I understand they quit making them but if you see a T/C Compass on the used gun rack I suggest grabbing it. Really accurate, light and not very costly.

Kick it up a notch or two from the savage. Even if they shoot cheap guns feel like cheap guns. For the money you really can't beat the Howa 1500s no matter whose name is on them when you find them. I've seen them on sale at Walmart for 399 and other than occasionally finding one that has some chatter marks in the barrel all of them that I've ever had are fantastic shooters, even the one that I had with chatter marks in the barrel.

Current Brownings are GREAT but $$

I forgot about the TC Venture. Great rifle 5R Barrels. Crappy stocks but you could always put a Boyds on it

I had one of those TC rifles forgot the model but it was cheap like $250 in 7 rem mag shot pretty dang well

Nothing wrong with TC boltaction rifles, but S&W wanted to get into boltaction rifles so they bought TC then TC went away and I think S&W bolt actions did as well, but could be wrong. I had an Icon in 308 and it was a half to 2/3 MOA rifle with Federal GMM and my handloads. Wish in a way I still had it
