We’ll be there in early June, and I’m wondering if you folks have any suggestions for hotels on or near the river walk that are worth booking and aren’t a fortune. Years ago I was there often for conventions, but I’m not up to speed on what’s good these days.
We’ll be taking a Michigan couple there, great folks, and I’d like to keep costs down if I can.
I used to like the Hilton Palacio del Rio, but it’s been years.

Agree on Menger, like the bar for a drink even if you don’t stay there. Crockett is cool if you can get the room over he front door with the balcony.

My favorite bar and restaurant are in the St.Anthony. Worth the stay and has great history

The Menger is nice, but the parking sucks. Agreed. Menger was greatness, years ago when we stayed there. It’s mentioned in some old Westerns too.

We always stayed at the Drury but it’s been a couple years…it was nice back then but I bet it’s expensive now. Everything else is…

Stayed at the Indigo many years ago, liked it. Stayed there last year - it sucked - we actually left a night early and just came home it sucked so bad. Maybe others have better luck with it - we didn't. It was cheap though.

We're a Hyatt family, so we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk a few years ago. Explorist level gave us upgraded room and free Regency Club access. That's a huge food/drink savings.

The wife booked us in the Riverwalk Plaza. I hope it’s decent. Let me know if you have stayed there.

I stayed there years ago, had no issues. But I usually stay at the cheaper hotels due to just needing a bed and shower. Don't spend much time at the hotel.

You got to stay at the Menger. HISTORIC. Teddy Roosevelt and some other guy were in the bar and dreamt up and started the Rough Riders of fame in the Spanish/American War. It's old, that's the charm. You can walk across the street to River Walk and the Alamo is next door.

We stayed at the Menger a few years ago. Had a front balcony room. Worst mattress I ever tried to sleep on. Teddy Roosevelt might have actually slept on it.

Yup, last time I was there the River Walk was coverd in homeless people and truck was broken into. Our school board had 2 members get trucks stolen out of parking garages, the attendants were probably in on it. I probably won't ever give SA my money again, which is sad, used to love going there.
