Through a trade I acquired a 300 Weatherby Magnum. What is the best way to tame the recoil? A brake or a suppressor? Thank you.

Trade it for a 6mm.

OK, suppressors will tame it some, brakes will tame it more. How much depends on which models.

Silencer. It will make everything better about shooting except for adding to the OA length.

Break, fiber stock, and kickez pad.

I have 2 that were man killers, but not anymore. One is a .338 Win Mag and a .300WSM.

Brake and weight tame recoil.

Shot one a good bit Remington 700 in 300 Weatherby that wasn't heavy at all the factory break on the 26 inch barrel did a good job taming recoil but dang the muzzle blast for anyone around you.

Shoot it at game and never feel the recoil again. Load development isn’t enjoyable, but it’s really not that bad.

Muzzle brakes are great until you forget to put the ear plugs in. One shot will significantly, permanently damage your hearing.

Suppressors will hinder the handling.

The Mark V with that California style Monte Carlo is a smooth shooter for having that level of recoil. Don't tense up. Roll with it.

Suppressor

Muzzle brakes work but if you go enough you are sure to forget plugs at least once...

The last time I forgot I wasn't right for 2 days lol

I’ve shot my .300 without plugs at a few animals. Can’t say for sure if it damaged my hearing or not, only one they rang my bell was when I shot a waterbuck that was on the ground at a few feet. That one stung.

I’m a fan of brakes myself. Take the recoil out by quite a bit.

Ditch the Monty Carlo style stock. I like the stock to be as straight as possible; like the cleaning rod almost won't clear the top of the stock.
