Need a good place to take a few customers hunting next year. Would prefer wild birds, open to texas, NM or Kansas. Needs to have a lodge to stay in. Doesn’t have to be five star just a solid place to hunt and stay.

I've been to Upland Inn before. They did a great job, but it's not the cheapest. I remember the food being great too. If you do go, ask for Dave—he's a great guide and a friend of mine.

Met a couple of guys from the Houston area around the 1st of the month who were hunting with Upland Inn. They told me they go a lot and like it. I hunt near there but have no experience with it.

Bird numbers were waaay down this year. Next year we will be doing 2 days at Upland Inn. Pretty big operation.

Hunted with 10 gauge outfitters this past December. Great lodge, nice people, awesome food. They have a bar set up as well. We shot lots of pheasant in the morning and end the afternoon did a quail hunt. Had a great time and will go back.
Time is not wasted if you spend it with the ones you love.

All, I've just joined the forum and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the public hunts that are held by various panhandle communities? I hear that the Lions Clubs in several cities and towns sponsor these hunts for a reasonable fee. If this is no longer the case, can you suggest a private or public lands guided hunt outfitter?

I believe they still hold the hunts but birds have been way down over the last few years...I know Hart, TX Lion Club has a pretty popular hunt...I'd start there if I were you...hopefully a rebound year!

Bar was really nice. Great seating areas and TVs to catch games after the hunt. Tim runs an outstanding outfit. Fly into Dodge City and it's a short drive to their place. Out in the middle of nowhere so nothing to do locally, but other than the hunt, you never need to leave the lodge.

weve been using Pheasants Galore in Sublette KS (30 mins from dodge/liberal) for many years now. Kyle, his guys, and dogs are great or bring your own like we do. Have a house that sleeps i think 14. Meals are amazing and will leave you full for sure. Always good hunting. Tell him Cory referred you if youd like.

First rate operation and had a blast.

Are these Kansas guide services putting you guys on wild bird or pen raised/flight conditioned bird hunts?

Following. Went to a SD lodge a few years ago that DID have things to do in the next town over. Not my kinda things, but some guys are really into that. It was odd, and not a place I'd take my grandsons to.

I just got back from Kansas I hunted with Dave Holoway at Lazy J Hunting Service Inc. in Sublette, and it was great. Tons of birds, the guides and dogs were great. Lodging is in one of the houses in town. Food was really good. Just a first rate outfit.

They don't have a bunkhouse type of lodging, or at least didn't way back. It is a house with several bedrooms. I don't believe they mix groups either, you hunt with your own folks.

Its an older Sears kit house from the early 1900s. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 downstairs. Think it sleeps 16. Yes, it will just be your group. And they leave ear plugs on the night stand just in case ha
