Good stuff. I still have a dozen or so boxes from when it was $15 per box ... only a handful of years ago.

Pass the gravy.

It's going to be a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGGG time before all my $0.02 - $0.04/round 22LR rounds get all used up. But it is good to see that ammo getting back down to somewhat reasonable prices.

Some here said it would never happen.

I think it's more that what is perceived as reasonable has changed. If you were used to buying 22LR for $0.02/round and suddenly there is a 500% increase to $0.12/round ... seeing the price drop to $0.06/round (200% increase over original) starts looking reasonable ROFLMAO ... 3 years of enduring a 500% increase has a way of changing a person's perception...virtually anything closer to original pricing is praised, even if it's still far from the original pricing LOL

Ultimately, prices always rise and never return to "original" pricing... if they did, we'd see those 1990 smokeless powder prices mentioned in another recent thread of $4/lb. There's never truly a return to the same prices...only massive increases and then lesser decreases, combined with constantly changing perceptions and expectations.

Except I have specifically mentioned $0.04-0.06 per round pre-panic and here we are AGAIN.

Pass the gravy.

I certainly never paid over $0.04/round for 22LR pre-pandemic (or ever actually) ... Not even something I would have considered. $0.04 was the expensive stuff, the normal stuff was $0.02. I actually have some I bought on sale for less than $0.02. The Federal 22LR in this post was certainly $0.02 ammo.

Putting aside that we are also talking about the cheapest type of ammo made and the ammo made in the largest quantity (so, the the ammo most likely to get closest to pre-pandemic pricing than any other ammo), ammo generally is becoming more reasonable (as discussed). But most ammo is still a LONG way from pre-pandemic pricing.

Personally, I don't much care what the prices are... with an average life expectancy of 80... the last 3 years of crazy pricing means the average person already spent 3.75% of their life in that period... life is waaaayyyy too short to worry about such insignificant things (certainly too short to base purchase decisions on - people waiting whole percentage points worth of their life for prices to fall are nuts LOL). I go with the flow and expect prices to continue to rise decade over decade, because they always do. Have fun, make memories with loved ones, do your best to enjoy life and ignore the small things - that's how I roll.
