They have no peer, or equal on the dinner table IMO. Meat doesn't get any better than cast iron grilled axis backstrap in garlic butter and a generous amount of SPG...

I’d have a hard time picking top with anything but that’s got to be in the conversation. Good looking piece of meat!

While it looks great, I think I’d still prefer a good beef steak.

High on my list, but I've still never had axis. I actually passed on a couple of cull axis bucks this season, waiting for something bigger.

What is the seasoning on that acorn squash? I had one a while back, my first, and really enjoyed it.

I absolutely agree
Axis is very, very hard to beat and I prefer it over any beef steak. Hell, I prefer whitetail backstrap deep fried in cast iron skillet to a ribeye to!
Simply love the flavor

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Pretty much the same as axis.......garlic butter, salt, course black pepper. Cook it like a baked potato. I'm pretty much a seasoning/rub junkie, always looking for the latest and greatest. Stumbled upon these two seasonings and they are superb. Johnny's Hunter's Blend seasoning salt and seasoned pepper. Much better than Lawry's IMO.

Going to have to try it this way. It was more of a cinnamon butter with crushed walnuts on the one I had, which was good too.
