I want to start loading for .38 Special (non +P) but the powders that come to mind, Bullseye and Unique, don't seem to be available anywhere. Are there any suitable powders that are available?

HP38 and W231 have identical load data. Same powder. Alpine always has HP-38.

Almost anything will work in .38 special as it is probably the easiest to load for there is.
To add to those above: Power Pistol, Auto Comp, Universal, 2400.
Pass the gravy.

Win 244 seems to be a replacement for the W231 although the load data is not exactly the same. Guessing its easier to manufacture and supposed to burn cleaner. I have switched to it in .380 and run a 124 gr 9mm load with it. I actually like it a lot and its AVAILABLE.

Cabelas up here has a ton of 231, HP-38, and Titegroup. I would think the Houston area stores would have the same.

Any pistol or shotgun powder will work and work well.
There’s a slew of them.

That is weird, the one in Allen was fully stocked, no missing powder spots on the shelf, but they didn’t have either of those.
