Not an elk hunter, nor a long range guy... At one time I had a 300WSM in a mountain rifle... Thing was ridiculous.
Biggest I have now in centerfire would be the ole .30-06 that doesn't get shot much anymore.
Wife has always wanted some Hard 8

Browning 1886 in 45-70. I have several loads for it but heavy hitting is 350gr running right at 1850 fps Remington 700 in 300 win. Running 215gr Berger’s at 2910 fps. Never had anything take a step after being shot with either of these 2.

AR10 308 went down the road, too heavy to carry anymore. Replaced with Henry Long Ranger 308W. Very accurate.

350 Remington Mag M700 classic Usually loaded with 225gr Partitions at 2700fps elk, deer, hogs and coyote have not argued that it is not enough gun Browning 1885 Highwall 45-70 For a while the 50BMG was my heavy thumper.
For what I hunt these days and the way I hunt the Little Sharps Lil' Reliable is about as powerful as I use.
The 45-70 and 350 I have not shot in years just haven't parted with them, something about not wanting to have the Defib wires to pull out from recoil.

REM. 700 on 375 H&H. Got a nice 1-4 Leupold to throw on it. Haven’t done it yet though. Doubt I’ll ever use it. Bought for a good price.

I've got some bigger, but I really like the 9.3x62, it's killed everything I've shot with it including Cape Buff and only kicks like a similar weight .300WM

Rifle - Bergara B-14 HMR in 300 PRC, 212 ELD-M at 3000 fps, has the factory Bergara Omni-Brake and that makes it a sweet shooter for the amount of booyah it has.
Shotgun - Benelli Supernova 12 Gauge shooting 3 Inch Magnum Brenneke Magnum Crush Slugs, 666 Grain Slug at 1600 fps, 3800 foot pounds of muzzle energy, lots of booyah on both ends.
To the guys on THF with 10 Gauges, start handloading for it. Can be done relatively inexpensively (Primed hulls, Ballistic Products makes a roll crimper and has a dedicated 10 Gauge Reloading Manual, hand drill or drill press, go to town), and you can make buckshot or slug loads that will take down virtually anything. The only limit is what your shoulder can take lol.

I think when I do the math the Mosin with its 29" barrel beats out the 30-06 with its 22 inch. The 8x57 Mausers are right there too. I've always wanted a .416 Rigby though.

How disappointing...ALL these words on posts. Let's see some pics! especially if it is with a cool game taken, one that requires heavy hitting. I like gun porn.
