So I drive about 5 hours to where I deer hunt in Lampasas county. But behind my house in Galveston county I have about 11 different buck that show up in my backyard (and only 4 doe). Unfortunately I cant hunt where I live , that's a shame This is the newest one that just showed up, I call him FREEK . Notice I built a feed trough . ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-56818-372717-img_2455.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-56818-372718-img_2450.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-56818-372719-img_2453.jpg)

There must have been an explosion in population in Galveston county the past 20 years.
I lived in the area from 1995-2001 and there was almost no deer in Galveston county to speak off…I think there may have been a small population around Kemah.
I was told there was deer in the Armand Bayou nature center and around Red Bluff but I never saw any. We lived next doors in pearland and our neighborhood backed up to thousands of acres…I spent about every day fishing in clear creek and riding my 4-wheeler and never saw so much as a track.
Buddy had a lease on Chocolate bayou and they did a survey, on the 10k acres they had access to IIRC they counted 28 whitetail.
From talking to people that own land their today there is a pretty good population of deer in both Galveston and brazoria counties.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

They should allow some urban bow hunting like they do in a few states back East. But I'm sure some would freak out about it...

What a great buck! Better than anything I have seen this season in Concho County. These are all LC deer, as well ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-51547-373928-dsc03072.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/12/full-51547-373929-dsc03078.jpg)

I got a buddy that sends me pictures of bucks sometimes. He lives around League City if I remember right. I’m not from the area, but I couldn’t nearly believe the type of deer that were down that way.
What’s really amazing to me is how different the deer are all along the gulf coast from the keys over to Texas. The difference becomes drastic if you measure one extreme versus the other, but to think that change occurs gradually as you work your way around.

Nice deer. It is crazy how many deer are around here with very little woods to hide in .
