This first buck was off a friends 6000 acre ranch in South Texas. This buck was not seen for the previous 2 seasons and I was with my friend that last time we saw him. He was with a doe in a dry tank bed and my friend missed him shooting off his top drive. Deer was little over 300 yards on a windy day. We found one shed and that was it. No sheds or sightings for 2 yrs. He was with daughter hunting out of his topdrive during the rut in that same general area as the miss....when they spotted this buck in the brush with a doe at 90-100 yards. He grossed 182" and would have netted book but he was HF.

The next 2 bucks were both killed from the same ranch the same year in 1994. Both native Hill Country bucks on a very large Hill Country ranch that was well managed. First one grossed just over 159" as a 6yr old and the second one grossed 167" as a 7 yr old. Interesting side note on the second buck as he was shot and thought to have been missed 2 yrs earlier. Disappeared for a year then showed up late season as 150's class 9pt showing a limp and injured right knee. When killed he had bullet fragments in that knee and the rear left HQ. The bullet probably ricocheted off the ground into the buck was my guess. This buck came back the next year as the typical 11pt in this pic.

Just goes to show what the hill country can produce when the habitat can keep up with the animal population……cheers

All great bucks!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

That last picture, that deer just looks absolutely massive. For some reason, I think he looks the coolest.

Here is another view of him from a different angle. This buck was taken back in 1994.

Cool photos. Pretty impressive you got the dead deer to lift up his head for the pic in the second photo.
