Ok this should be good….What’s the most shells it’s taken you to kill a limit. To keep it interesting will say answer for duck and dove

Not duck or dove, but once when I took someone Snipe hunting, they shot bird number 8 of an 8 bird limit with shell number 100. I had shot my 8 birds with 8 shells and finished early. I tried everything to help, calling shots, pushing birds to him, had him change chokes, but I refused to shoot birds into his limit. When my hunting partner ran out of shells, I gave him all the shells I had on me and all I had in the truck. His shot number 100 was also the last shell left between us. There was an epic amount of birds on the fields and flats that day. Possibly the most Snipe I have ever seen at one location, but they were all flushing far and flying crazy fast.

Duck the most for a limit 9
Dove the most for a limit about 2 boxes

Go ahead and add least for a limit
Dove 18 for a 15 limit
Duck 1 for a limit. In the days of the point system one shot one black duck done for the day.
Another one shot duck limit 2 wood ducks

5 boxes once for 15 dove.
Probably 2 boxes for ducks but that would include having to water swat cripples.

As far as the least amount to reach limit. Dove not really sure but probably 1 box and a partial box.

As least shells needed to kill limit of ducks. 1 shot 4 blue wing teal. And one of those was banded. It was my first ever duck hunt, probably around 1976 or 77.

It is a personal principle that I never count the shells I've used. I prefer to keep my illusions and remain in my ignorance.

I will say though, like Kmon11, i shot one duck with one shell under the point system. It was a canvasback. It was the first bird I cooked by myself (my mom believed that wild things should be cooked until all hell and damnation were cast out). I cooked it to med rare and it was the best duck I had tasted until that time.
