Think that drought really took a toll on deer numbers in general and likely contributed to much more predation as well. Did see a very early morning wall hanger last Sat. morning on my north fence line while driving in, 5:50 am or so but never saw him while up in the stand. Maybe one of the bigger deer I've seen out there in my 15 seasons but do think these larger deer are moving a lot nocturnally. We'll keep at it and hope a big un slips up.

Multiple mature bucks chasing a partnered up with does last night and this morning. Definitely feels late compared to previous years but maybe it’s an early second rut?

Rattled in a couple big red deer stags which is always fun. They don’t come in angry like a whitetail, theyre just curious to see what is going on.

Saw a nice 4-4.5 yo 8pt. this afternoon hunt with about 20 minutes of shooting light left, what are you all seeing?

Consistent deer action all weekend. My friend was able to take his first ever buck on a nice 3.5yr old 5pt cull. Got two coyotes to take some pressure off as well

Nice wide 9pt, 4yo followed by 6pt cruised by feed pen 9pt was scenting up the joint. Think it's nearly back on again, next week for sure.

What are we seeing the last few days, has the secondary rut kicked off?

I did have a small spike run a doe right next to my buggy as I started it up last Saturday. I also had a small 6 trot after a couple does that were at the feeder, but I guess breakfast was calling and he came back alone not too long after.

Will be out this afternoon. As of last weekend, I’ve seen bucks chasing does pretty much nonstop since around 11-14

Seeing a lot of movement from the bucks this morning. No chasing, maybe the right one will show this evening. Young county.

Quiet afternoon. This morning saw a four doe and shot a nice 5.5yr old 8pt. Friday afternoon, saw the same 8pt briefly as well as some younger bucks.

They’re coming! I’ll make a separate post. I want to get back to my computer because we have a couple years of history and will share those pics too. In the meantime…

Guys, hoe are we looking the last 6-7 days, 2nd rut on, little moon and colder temps have them moving??????

Driving out tomorrow AM. Was out just before Christmas when the cold front came in and things were moving up until the brutally cold weather hit on Thursday.

Is anyone hunting young county this weekend. Saw more new bucks this morning than all year.
