Need to touch up a couple scratches, anybody ever used one and does it do a decent job?

The Presto own works good if you clean all the oils off before using. I start with brake clean and finish with alcohol. It will only blue the steel and not smooth the metal. If you can feel the scratch, it will be a blues scratch.

And be extremely careful with those around finished wood and composite stocks.

About those Sharpie pens...this is a little off the subject, but interesting.

Years ago I bought a blemished Leupold VX-II 3-9 from Natchez. I expected some small imperfection, but when I opened it up and saw the "blemish" I though holy crap. It was blemished, all right. A good deal of the objective bell was bare of the black finish and what showed looked like a yellowish primer coat of some kind. I got it cheap and figured "oh, well." Then I touched it up with a black Sharpie and it looked perfectly acceptable and I used it. Fast forward a few years...I decided to sell it on a forum (don't recall which one). I knew it should show blemishes but try as I might, I could no longer see any evidence whatsoever and the scope looked like NIB. I disclosed this fact and sold the scope and never heard any complaint whatsoever. I guess the Leupold matte finish just happened to match perfectly...or maybe they just color em with Sharpies in the factory. wink

Used a sharpie previously, it didn’t take, I’ll give the pen a try.

I have used the Birchwood Casey pen before but I think they are discontinued from production.

Clean with rubbing alcohol first and apply gun oil after.

Pass the gravy.
