I felt safer in NYC than I ever have in Dallas. We walked prob 30 miles over 5 days in NYC and never once did I have a gun or feel unsafe. There was groups of police on every corner, others foot patrolling the sidewalks between the intersections, park police everywhere.

Chicago was a completely different story.

At the Valentín Imperial right now. Never realized Cancun was so close. Enjoyably eye opening.

Cancun or Mexico never closed for Covid, never required a vaccine nor a covid test for entry, they kept the country open.

For me I can jump on American Airlines flight at DFW and be in Cancun in 2 hours.

Once there Mexico and especially Cancun area has some of the best tourist infrastructure in the world, so much to see and do and the beaches are outstanding, I personally dig all the cenotes and explore different ones each time.

They also have outstanding theme parks where you can swim in caves, drive 6 wheelers through underground rivers, swim, inner tube rivers, zip lines, etc at them parks like Xplor, Xenotes, Xeh Hai, Xcaret and most offer buffet lunches all day and adult beverages unlimited while in the parks, in the Cancun area.

I have family members that have owned a place down the coast since the early 80's.

It's a little spooky flying into Cancun and driving south. It's a beautiful place but having some of the populace know wealthy Americans are down there is disconcerting.

I`ll never set foot in Mexico under no conditions. My son and his wife haven`t gone in about 3 years, but they are going next year and taking my grandkids. I personally think that taking my grandkids is BS, but I stay out of their business. I don`t understand the attraction personally. There are lots of great places in the USA. They may have associated risk as well, but at least you are in the USA and not in another country. I will guarantee you that for every case you read about, there are many more that never get reported. Those who put themselves at risk also put their families at risk sometimes with ransom demands. You may have a dozen great trips, but it only takes one to ruin your life. I`m not playing the odds and don`t feel sorry for those who do and lose.

Meh. There’s a big world out there. Can either live in fear and never experience it or know that ultimately your demise is not at your control no matter what you think - it was decided by the man upstairs.

Try to reenact that dudes scenario. Go to the airport, go through security and then leave to get tobacco. Wake up in a ditch and you could be famous. He’s gonna write a book and already raised 12 dollars.
