Several facilities in the North Texas area, anyone have recommendations? Sherman, Bonham, Dallas, or other. Did you like the staff/physicians, get appointments with out too much rigamarole, ease of getting in and out of the facility?

Appreciate your candid responses.

Thanks.

Will look into that one, might be a bit further than I want to go, but we'll see.

Thanks.

When we were taking care of my uncle, Dallas was good, but DANG you had to walk unless you had a DV tag and cardiac permits. Seriously, that complex is HUGE! Wait times were crazy. Fort Worth was a lot easier, but they didn't handle his psychiatric appointments (Severe PTSD from Vietnam). I know Hopalong goes to either Sherman or Bonham and I think he's posted that he likes it. You might reach out to him on here or on the TFF and ask.

PM me for a private conversation on my experiences in the Dallas VA system, and why we now live in the Olin Teague system in Temple.

bonham is about the best you will get and being in mckinney you are in the area.

I have been in the system since 1974 and been in the va's in san antonio, temple, dallas, tyler clinic, Okie city, pheonix, denver.

none have been even close to how bonham treats us, check them out.

My neighbor, an Army vet and retired from Las Vegas PD, had his knee replaced at Temple. His knee isn’t right. He was high on the Temple VA for a long time, but his confidence in the knee job is fading fast. We skinned some pigs this morning and he was limping pretty bad. And he’s in constant pain. It hurts me to watch him hurt. He should have healed by now.

I’ve generally only heard bad things about any of them. But, have no personal experience and hope I don’t have to.

Yes the VA does have a bad rap and there are some horror stories out there, but your responsible for your own health care. If something doesn't seem right ask questions, second opinion, and go with your gut.

Temple VA care is like a Sine Curve..It can be great for years and then you could have 5 different primary providers in 3 months who all want to change your care, then when you follow up that one is gone and the next one wants to do something different. I am in pain management for Numerous injuries (no narcotics) every year around this time my referral runs out and last year it took 6 months to resume care. It looks like it is heading that way now, referral placed in Sept, still not approved as of yesterday, then the Holidays hit, maybe I will get seen in February like last year. (Last year I wound up in a wheelchair or using a cane when I could due to the pain while waiting for the consult to be approved. One Day last year I fell in my work parking lot and laid on the ground for 15 minutes before I could crawl into my vehicle. I also fell Numerous times getting in or out of the shower. The consult had to be re written numerous times as either the approver or the scheduler mis understood what the consult was for. My new primary provider now is pretty good, but the referrals are hit and miss. It shouldn't be like this for our vets, but oh well I guess they needed to send all that money to Ukraine.
