I saw that! Still, very similar to Army basic training in many ways.

I went to MCRD San Diego in 1971. It was a bit different than the video, at least in the early stages.

Well, I did go to Parris Island for NCO Leadership School.

Being from New Orleans at that time, I had a choice of PI or San Diego. Fun choices, Huh? Anyway, the thought of the heat and sand fleas at PI made me choose San Diego.

Heat, sand fleas, rattle snakes, copperheads, coral snakes, alligators and extremely strong currents and sharks in the river. What’s not to love. roflmao
The night we arrived at PI from Beaufort a Gunny at receiving was yelling at us not to think we can run home to momma. He said “ 3 of you A-holes went AWOL last night but the swamp got em.” It was actually a true story.

I was still in the womb in 1970 but did go to Hotel California in 1990 thanks to being west of the Mississippi.
