For the past two weekends I've been getting up a 3am Friday night / Saturday morning to get to the ranch in Eastland Co from Austin in time for a morning sit. My boy's football team is still in the playoffs which is really good for the team, but not so good for my sleep. As much as I enjoy his athletic endeavors, I cherish the time I get to spend with him at the ranch. He's a junior this year so I don't have a lot of time with him before he heads off to college. School, sports, work, girlfriend, etc. doesn't leave a lot of time for us to hang together. Well those early morning trips paid off. He took care of some pest control with a little pig Saturday morning to get things started. I got into the action with some predator control on Saturday night when a yote decided to walk out looking for a meal. He finished the weekend off by taking a really nice buck for our place Sunday morning. We had a couple does and young bucks hanging out in front of his stand for a good bit eating some hand corn we threw out the night before. All of a sudden this guy comes walking over the tank dam from the woods. As soon as I saw it I knew he is the best deer we've seen this year. I gave him the ok to take him if he wanted to. Didn't go more than 30yds back over the dam. I'm glad he's older and stronger now, cause dragging that deer up the hill by myself would've killed me if I had to do it myself. Apologies for the long/boring write up, but man I feel time starting to squeeze me a bit.

Great! My son still hunts opening weekend with me... at 44 yoa. Enjoy!

If you find yourself feeling useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and four presidents to replace the Taliban with the Taliban.

Sometimes the Universe puts you in the same situation again to see if you’re still a dumbass.

Nothing better than this!

Great times for sure and nice buck!

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
