Have a guy wanting to trade me an AI rifle as part of a deal for a truck. Anyone know how much an AI AX is worth? He told me caliber is 6mm, but I assume there is more to it than that (6 dasher, 6 CM, 6 something...)
Is there anyone around who knows a decent bit about these rifles?

Seems like customs rifles fetch about half what people are worth. If you trying to flip it to get cash out of your truck then I’d knock him down to bare bones.

GunBroker gives you an idea the asking prices on new rifles. You can do your own research on what these have sold for. Definitely high end guns. AI AX

Seems if he can't state the chambering accurately, somethings fishy. Either he calls it 6mm because he doesn't know much about it, or he's trying to hide something. There's many 6mm, as you know.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it’s a Creedmoor. People who own them often consider them the only thing made. They refer them simply as “Creedmoor” or “6.5” or in this case “6mm”. If ask to clarify the word “duh” would be at the end of the answer.

I don't think the guy knows what he's talking about. He can't even get me pics even though he says he wants my truck. I don't think his 6mm comment is short for something else - I don't think he knows the caliber.

He can't even get me pics Yea, if he can't get you pics then I would be out. Taking and sending pics is so easy today. Even a caveman could do it...

The AI website, from what I could find, only shows .308, .300 Win Mag and .338 as offerings, no others, but somewhere on there was mention of ‘re-barreled’ guns.

AI’s are definitely high end rifles and can be had in numerous calibers. This one is 6.5 Creedmoor but is also available in 6mm Creedmoor. https://www.eurooptic.com/Accuracy-...-Earth-24-5-8-24-Threaded-Fixed-Sto.aspxMy sons SWAT team has AI’s and they like them a lot.

Most the AI AX’s I’ve seen for sale vary, in price depending on round count and age. They aren’t as rare as KAC’s are going to be. But $3,500 to $4,500 seems reasonable.

What if it’s a stolen rifle?
To be determined

What if? Could be said for any firearm offered for sale or trade. No public data base in Texas that I’m aware of to verify if stolen or not.

Not knowledgeable but my now deceased brother was a well known competitive shooter. He even bought a big lathe to cut barrels. He and his buddies mostly leaned to 6BR. Some to 308.
