Personally, if my kid got in a small wreck and the damage was minor I wouldn't even fix it. Valuable lesson for them to drive a car with a dented bumper or whatever.

Probably more concerned with fixing what the kid hit, not the car itself.

Accidents stay on your driving record five years for most insurance companies. A youthful driver with an at-fault accident could have your policy going up $100/month or more. I'm an independent agent and I've paid a couple fender-benders out of pocket. Saved money in the long run.
