The Barnes TTSX 130's from a .308 Win continue to provide consistently effective terminal results. Had the chance to make a new short video while my wife was doing the shooting. Shot placement was to the forward edge of the shoulder 1/3 down from the back. I was having her use that placement for a buck and she did it again on the pig. On pigs, a bullet to the base of the ear works nicely, but this placement certainly was effective. The bullet passed through.

Years ago, I had a TSX pencil through shoulder blades on a buck. He ran about 100 yards, which caused me to quit Barnes. About ten years ago, someone encouraged me to give the TTSX a try. They have been a very different story consistently providing effective terminal results. The TTSX opens very fast. The TTSX and LRX have become my go to bullets. Here is a buck shot through the shoulder by my wife with a .308 Win and the 130 TTSX (45.5 gr Varget and a F210). This damage from the TTSX is not pencilling through. Entrance side: Exit side:

That is some pretty good damage, much more than I have seen with the old tsx.
My nephew plugged a nice 10 pt this morning. 200 pounds through both shoulders with a 243 and 100 grain nosler partitions. DRT and an exit. I love them but I haven’t been able to buy partitions in 2 years, think when i use what I have I will be changing, will give the TTSX a look.

Thanks Judd, yes, she is a good shot. I don’t know what it is with women and a rifle but if they show interest, they are typically shooters. My wife is an excellent shot but has very little interest. She goes to the range once or twice a year with me and that’s it. I have never got on the mono train. I’m sure I’ll play with them eventually but I use the cup/core or bonded (type) bullet. If I want a tougher bullet, I typically go accubond or scenar. That little bullet is impressive from a 308 and I bet kicks like a pup. I’m the guy that likes speed and will lighten bullet weight up to get it, that definitely plays to the strength of a mono. Great data on bullet performance, thanks for sharing your experience.

Bet the 110 grain Barnes for the blackout might tickle the speed fancy even more. I’ve read of people loading them in 308/30-06 with good results as well.

Here is a couple that really works for me , the 130 gr Speer Hotcore and WC 125 gr Controlled Chaos, The wife and I shot 6 times in Arkansas last week and had 6 deer on the ground. She was shooting the 130 gr Speer and I used the 125 WC CC. Daniel

That hog was dead before it hits the ground. That's my favorite shot placement on any critter.

That's where I shoot if I really want to anchor a pig in place, and I don't care about losing some meat. If no tracking is the priority, it's a good place to put a bullet.

Bet the 110 grain Barnes for the blackout might tickle the speed fancy even more. I’ve read of people loading them in 308/30-06 with good results as well. I bet that would be a hammer. I load a 110 vmax in my 06 and it works great on coyotes and hogs. It was running 3450 out of a 24” gun; I haven’t chrono’d it in my 18” rifle, but it still knocks them down.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.
