I’m looking at getting a suppressor for my Benelli Super Black Eagle 3. I shoot lots of armadillos at my house early morning and late evening. Don’t want to keep bothering the family and neighbors. Too rocky for a .22 rimfire and neighbors too close for any center fire ammo other than a shotgun. Any thoughts on a suppressor? Do any make one that has a choke? I sure like using a tighter choke to hold the pattern.

Even with a silencer, it will likely still bother your family and neighbors sound wise. A live trap and night crawlers is what I’d use.

I have a live trap and catch about 1/2 of the armadillos I shoot in it. Biggest problem is getting them to go in the trap in the middle of the yard. If I put the trap close to a cedar tree and they are close by they will usually go in it. I’ve tried night crawlers in a mesh bag that I put in the trap. If you have any suggestions please let me know. This picture I attached is the night I put the night crawlers into the trap. The armadillo tore up the yard on either side of the trap but wouldn’t go in the trap after the night crawlers.

What about a .17HMR?
I have a Marlin 17HMR rifle with a suppressor on it, and it works great for pests like that.

I have had a Salvo12 for a few years now. I never use it unless I am shooting subsonic buckshot or slugs. Mine is really loud with anything more than dove loads and my benelli's (SBE2, SBE3, & Ultra-light) won't cycle with it on them.
If 17 HMR wouldn't be enough I would probably shoot something like a subsonic suppressed 44 mag or something like that. Stupid quiet, lead bullet, super fun to shoot.
I try to shoot everything subsonic & suppressed.

Anybody know if a lead .22 bullet @ 1180 fps ricochets more than a load of lead shot at the same speed? Does the shot deform more?
Do not trifle in the affairs of dragons, for thou art crunchy and taste good with ketchup.
