We dragged the carcass from a spike I killed to the end of our camp shooting range. First night a cat covered it with grass so I put a driveway sensor on it. Got woke up to "alert zone one". Walked over to the shooting bench and shot it. Big male. Second one I have done this way. Now the cat carcass is out in a field near camp with the murs sensor waiting on a coyote to show up on it. Is that considered cheating?

A driveway sensor…! Wow, that’s inventive.

Nice! How many yards was it to where you were sleeping. Interested about the range on that sensor

This was only 150 yards. 50 yards from bed to shooting bench. 100 yard range. Carcass was in front of backstop. But I have stands with feeders on opposite ends of our lease with camp centrally located on high spot and can put a sensor on each feeder and get alarms in camp. I am getting a mile at least. My main use though is for my hog hunting place in east Texas. I have a night hunting camper stand with black out shades over a feeder. I use the murs instead of lights now. Both hand held night vision monocular to check, then night vision rifle to shoot. But has been fun to use on carcasses near camp, trails leading into my stand, hog bait stations near camp, hog trap to know it was triggered, etc.
I use the Dakota MURS with the handheld. I put pairs of deck screws in trees everywhere I might use it, so I can just walk up and hang it on the Screws.

Genius idea.

I have used the MURS units for several years. Currently I have 3 base units and 2 handheld to use while I am out in a pasture or away from the house. About the best range I have been able to get is a little over a mile in all conditions. I have 4 senders like the one pictured and the base units are in my house and 2 shops. They will pick up just about any movement and with the ZONE ONE through ZONE 4 it will ID what part of the ranch it's coming from.
