How are things going in Young county; how was opening weekend coming up on week? Saw some doe and a Young buck opening morning in SW Young county. Heard 5-6 shots close by. What are you all seeing, hearing??

Didnt see much opening weekend. On small spike debated taking him but gave him a pass. Lots of pigs as usual πŸ™„πŸ™„. Hoping they start chasing soon!

Saw less movement in general but when there was it was a fair amount of animals. Harvested two doe, a spike, and 4 pigs. Only heard shots from two of our low fence neighbors and confirmed one was a red deer hind and the other was a 3yr old 8pt.

Seeing some sign the of bucks being interested in does on camera, but nothing screaming the rut yet in person.

We are in SE Young County

South of you a few miles our guys saw a few does, no bucks. One shot heard all weekend. A month of camera pics only showed does and a couple of young bucks. We don't even have nearly as many pigs on camera as usual.

I'm still at the lease. Adult spike quartered in freezer. No big bucks seen so far in person or on camera for several days. Hogs scarce, but I shot several last month and neighbor hunter did too so they had been pressured. Did shoot one two days ago. Bobcat taken off spike carcass. Several does at one of my stands every morning, but other lease guys only seeing young bucks. Turkeys are gone here. Vanished months ago. We have a heavy acorn drop here along our creek bottom. There was not near the number of area and distant shots heard for what the normal opening day should be. Bucks I have seen have been in groups still. That should start changing any day now. Good luck to the other young county guys. Nice front bringing deer hunting weather come the weekend.

On the south end of 3109 our best blind/feeder got vandalized. I would say it was hogs but the access door to the controls was ripped off and the battery was pulled out and laying on the ground about five feet away. Seems unlikely. We got it fixed so crossing my fingers about next trip out. I love our place but between trespassers, oil & gas crews, and cattle guys we are having a lot of hunts ruined.

That sucks big time, is 3109 near the turnoff to Elbert or Eliasville?

I've seen very little rut activity overall, but saw two mature bucks give it hell fighting Saturday evening, struggling to post the video in the right format though.

North of Graham lots of doe, some young bucks and a few middle aged bucks not a lot of chasing though. Seems odd for out here. Saw one buck making scrapes. If the mature bucks are pushing on doe it’s not in my area.

The 10 I saw was more moving, searching. My guess is it is close for mature boys.

What are we seeing out in Young county this week, more so the last few days? Rutting going hard and fast? Big boys moving around?

Very slow this past weekend for me west of Newcastle. I saw 6-8 different bucks in 3 sits. Noting bigger than a 6 and everyone were busted up. I did not see a single doe.

Not many really big bucks this year period out here, seems like nothing topped out from the drought. I have hunted 3/4 days per week and traveled thru some great country from Graham to W Tx a lot lately and just haven't seen many big deer. Some nice bucks coming thru ClearFork but not the giants like last season.
