So I kept seeing these things about not throwing your pumpkins away and taking them out to the lease to feed your deer... That is a bunch of bull. I dropped 3 out there over a week ago and nothing has touched them. Anyone else done this?
Spend time with the ones you love. Time is not guaranteed.

I’ve never done it but nothing is eating my corn either. Fresh acorns is the reason here.

I tried it for years, never saw any signs of deer eating them. Didn't matter whether it was fully intact, smashed into pieces, regular pumpkin, or decorative gourd.

Mine seem to like watermelon, none of my tomatoes or peppers made it this summer in my garden but last year's watermelon went to seed and I have 20+. you can only eat so many, i've taken 6-8 out to the land and they are just skins left. Not so much with pumpkin.

I gathered up probably 10 after Halloween a few years ago. Chopped them up with a machete and scattered around the feeders. Even the pigs wouldn’t touch them.

When the wife is done with our pumpkins I will take them and scatter them around the feeders. The first year i left them hole and nothing touched them the second year i cut them in half and the deer at them up! I have done this for a couple years now.

My brilliant brother put some out last year. Nothing ate them except buzzards (no deer, no hogs, only buzzards)

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Takes about 6 months for them to rot away.
