What firearm and load will you be carrying to your stand on Opening Day?

Since I'll have a pasture on one side and a wooded pond on the other, I'll be carrying my Winchester Model 70 Featherweight chambered in 25-06. One of the earlier wildcat loads that's good for both short and long distance, the magazine will be loaded with Hornady 110-grain ELD-X.

I'll be bow hunting tomorrow and Friday, but if I haven't stuck a deer by Friday night, I have packed the Browning BAR that I got from 603Country for Saturday AM. .270 topped with 130gr accubonds.

I’m curious to know what wild hog currently walking the earth cannot be swiftly dealt with using a 7mm-08 and a 140 grain ballistic tip?

Lately, I’ve really become fond of my 1971 Marlin 30-30 with 4x weaver scope. My uncle gave it to me years ago. Never really took it out to last year.

I always use the same three rifles for every opening weekend: dad’s 760 30-06,(150 grain Hornady ) granddad’s Mauser 35 Whelen (200 Nosler) and grandmother’s Mauser .257 (Nosler 100) It’s a tradition/honor thing for me, may seem silly to some…but not to me.

Remington 700 Classic in 6.5x55. Currently using the Swift 130gr Scirocco. Backup and walk around rifle is an over under Barnaul combination 6.5x55 X 12GA, but I use cheaper PPU soft points in that one.

Tikka M695 in 25-06. Hornady 117 GR. SST, plus some new 110 GR. soft point reloads. All I have to do it point it in the right direction, it does the rest.
