Hi, How is the hunting in the Brady/Lohn Tx area in terms of quantity and quality? Any exotics? When is the rut typically? Much appreciated to your response and best of luck to everyone 2022!

County known for high deer densities, also some exotics around at times. Believe the rut goes a little earlier around there, Thanksgiving into mid Dec. or so. Some nice deer can be had in McCulloch, good luck...

Can be quite a few axis in the area. Bucks are typically better than hill country but less than south Texas. Good numbers.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I'm on 3k acres in Brady. When we first got on the place it was overrun with deer. I mean you could throw a rock in any direction and hit a deer. As you can imagine, buck quality was poor. We spent a few years shooting lots of does, scrub bucks, and started feeding protein. We've seen massive improvements in buck quality. Mid 130's is fairly common and we get the occasional 12 pt. mid 140. We get great main beams and tine length, just not great mass.

We have enough pigs for it not to be a huge problem, turkeys, dove, and varmints. There are axis and black buck in the McCulloch/Brady area but we've never seen any on our ranch.

If you like a lot of action, it's a great place to hunt.

Hunted a ranch on south west of lohn a few miles for 13 years, my best friend just sold it. Manage it right and genetics are there for 150+ .
