I am putting in for the aoudad hunt at caprock canyon state park and was looking to see if anyone has hunted there or has info about the aoudad herd there. I know chances of getting drawn are slim but need to start researching now just in case.
thank you for any info

Nice auodad. how long ago did you shoot it? that is such a shame that the hide was not useable. if have you tried talking to anyone that raises exotics about getting another cape?

man, i'm sorry. i shot an axis deer this year, he's hide is nothing special but i'd be able to pick it out of a line of several other axis. it was a little hot when i shot him, i put him in a freezer after about an hour, hope i don't have problems with it.
ps.
can you tell right away if its going to slip?

Thank you for the info. If anyone has anymore please put in your 2 cents.
That is a nice aoudad. How long was he? I took one 3 years ago from a ranch my friend ust to have and it was 22 inches from base to tip, not a big one but I was very excited about it.

Research this stuff called Stop Rot. It kind of set the hair. It might help delay the bacteria from setting in. You would have to skin it all off the head and so forth to use it properly.
I'd try to find some kind of way to even take a small bit of dry ice with me while on the hunt. If you left it in a ice chest somewhere on the side of a road in the shade. I think that would be the only thing that you would be able to do. Either that or pray for cold weather.
