Wanting a new rifle for hunting with a 16"-18" barrel threaded 5/8×24(will be suppressed). The bergara ridge sp and sig cross are candidates, but curious of any others to look at? My last resort is to build a custom, but holding off on that for now.. Both of the factory options above dont offer 6 creed, which I'm really leaning that direction for caliber but I'm open to the 6.5 creed/308 factory offerings. So, any other factory rifles worth looking at?

I have a Sig Cross in 6.5CM. Decent gun, light weight just don't over load it with accessories.

Do they have aftermarket single stage triggers available for the sig cross? I'm not a fan of 2 stage.
Also, is it 6.8# like advertised?

No on aftermarket triggers, that’s my only complaint. With that said mine easily adjusted to 2.75 lbs. sub 1 pounds of slack, then wall and then breaks clean at 2.75lb

Yes on weight. I bought one for my daughters. One’s a lefty, and other daughter a righty. Amber dexterous safety and adjustable stock is very nice. Easy weight for them to handle.

As far as weight I carried it bear hunting last week in NM for that exact reason. It folds up and attaches to pack perfect so doesn’t catch brush when strapped to pack. I need d to be highly mobile. Worked like a charm.

Remington makes a 700 in 308 with a 16" barrel.

Cutting one down is cheap. Don't limit yourself to factory options.

Still debating what direction I'm going .. Is there enough meat for a T3x lite to be cut at 16" or 18" and threaded 5×24 in either 6.5 cm or 308? I've not familiar with barrel thickness on the lite models.

Yup, can be done, I have one threaded 5/8"-24 at 17", with a 7mm bore.

I just traded for a wilderness ridge sp in 6.5. I like it a lot but May drop it in a diff stock, factory is pretty flexy. Also have a Ruger American predator 308 with an 18 inch barrel and box mag conversion im pretty fond of. It’s about 1 pound lighter than the bergara

I've been looking at the wilderness ridge sp. The weight of it is really the only thing holding me back, but may give it a try.

Pretty sure Ruger American comes in 6 CM and Timney makes drop in triggers for them .

I've actually been looking for one online(ruger 26948), but havent located one as of yet...
I could chop the barrel and add the timney for sure.

I should of clarified, I've been looking online for one at places like gun zone deals, Kentucky gunco, and others that dont charge taxes to TX and offer free shipping or cheap shipping. At $549, it's not worth it to me. I was seeing them earlier this year for $450 ish at the mentioned places. I do appreciate the help and heads up.

I just bought one last week. Have not shot it yet but like the balance of the gun and the trigger imo is pretty dang good.

Sell a kidney or two and get a Blaser. You won't need the short barrel to get the short gun.

I just went through this. If you can live with a 308, a stainless Ruger Scout in the synthetic stock is worth looking at. It has an aluminum bedding block up front and an aluminum pillar in the rear. Weighs 6.2 lbs, takes AICS mags, 16" barrel. I scoped mine with an LPVO but you can remove the forward pic rail and use a larger scope. I haven't even done load development but 165 NBT over 46 grains of Varget was good for 2675 fps and MOA at 100 yards. Scoped and suppressed, it's 42" long and 8.75 lbs.

I was looking for light, short, suppressed and accurate hunting rifle. I wanted to stay under 9lbs suppressed and scoped which is not easy to do with an off the shelf rifle.

I’m in the same boat, I want a sub 10 pound rifle with scope, suppressor, and ammo. Ideally a 16 inch barrel and really prefer it to be 308.

The 4 I’m looking at are the Savage Scout, Savage Magpul Hunter, Ruger Scout, and Ruger Magpul Hunter. This will be a truck/SxS gun, so looks is third behind durability & handiness.

I was set on the Sig Cross, but I just hate that AR style setup.

It’s a well known fact that factory Tikka T3/X in both Lite and CTR shoot very well. If one likes the factory stocks, may work for you with a barrel chop.
I’ve chopped both a 6.5 and a 223 Tikka Lite with excellent results in accuracy and improved portability the shorter barrel provides. I imagine a 308 would yield the same performance.
Recently sold a Bergara Wilderness SP in 308. Was a 1/2” rifle with 168 FGMM and handloads and I had no problem with it.

For weight reference, both rifles below are 6.5CM and both cans are titanium.

This Tikka is cut to 17”. Weighs 8lb 11oz as you see it.



Then there’s this Seekins Element factory rifle, 21” barrel. Weighs 8 lb 5oz as it sits and is available in 6 creed.
