Saw this story on Fox this morning...course and dealership need to pay up.

An Arkansas golf club is being sued over not awarding a prize of a new pick-up truck that was offered if a competitor hit a hole-in-one on the 10th tee.

Austin Clagett sunk a hole-in-one at the Morrilton Country Club. And expected to get the keys to a Ford F-150 courtesy a local dealership.

Little did he know, the hole-in-one would launch a legal battle.

The car wasn’t awarded to him after all, and he filed a lawsuit against the country club and the dealership.

"When it was Austin Clagett’s turn to try to get a hole-in-one, Austin Clagett hit the ball and it went in the hole on the first attempt," a news release from the law firm of Denton & Zachary said, via KATV. "Afterward, Morrilton Country Club and Jay Hodge Ford of Morrilton refused to give Austin Clagett the keys or transfer him the title to the 2022 Ford F-150 4x4 Supercrew."

People should stick to their word, whoever that should be in this case. However, I just can’t imagine taking someone to court over something like this.

Or was being cheap and didn't think it would happen. Either way Murphy's law kicked their butt.

That’s a lot of money they screwed him out of,,, The dealership “Jay Hodge” answers all the questions… Their motto should be “We’ll scam you when your not looking every time all the time” I’d sue thr dumb [censored] as well…

If there is documentable agreement between the Dealership and CC and the CC doesn’t pay honor the offering, they will loose more money than just paying it out.
The bad publicity is not going to affect the CC as much as it will the dealership. That puts the CC in the position of defending against two lawsuits.

I golfed with a arrogant golfer that could back up his mouth. At a charity event we fill up to the hole in one, just like in the story, win a new Camaro. He sh!t talks the dealer rep that’s there and was asking what the cash prize was since he didn’t want a Camaro. Dealer said no cash prize, but if he was confident that he could make a hole in one then he would personally pay him $100. More sh!t talking and they had agreed on $1000 if he could 1 bounce the ball and hit the flag pole. Few seconds later the dealer was paying him $1000. When asked why he didn’t just go for the hole in one, he emailed and said “because I drive Calloways and Corvettes.” roflmao

I think last charity golf tournament I was at, it was an insurance policy that the organization takes out to pay if someone makes it. Sounds like they didn’t take out a policy and it got them

It would be interesting to hear what the CC has to say. Why not just offer/give the golfer whatever they were going to pay for it?

I just wouldn’t. I’m not blaming anyone that would.

Sounds like the country club owes the guy a new truck. If I were in this guys shoes, I'd go to court too.

Breach of contract or such.

After being cheated out of $53,000, and earning it by doing something extremely hard or lucky, you’d just walk away and say “oh well?”

Most of the time the sponsors buy a hole in one tourney insurance. I'm betting the dealer took the gamble and didn't get it and lost. I would be taking them to court too.

The dealer claims they decided not to do a giveaway and agreed to park a truck there as advertising and the tournament organizer didn’t change the “win a truck with a hole in one,” signage. The club/tournament organizer won’t respond with a comment, which seems fishy.

I wonder if they advertised the truck as part of the invitation for the event. If he paid money to play in the event and the event included the chance to win then I would say he has some recourse. It does suspiciously sound like the insurance wasn't purchased.
