I guess I'm going to find out, picked this up a couple of weeks ago. 2022 JLU Willys. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/08/full-2960-358275-dscn3062.jpg) I was more concerned with it's on road abilities and was quite surprised. Just took it to Ruidoso and back, it's not as smooth and quiet as the Caddy but it's on par with my GMC. Since it's got the aerodynamics of a brick, that was a pleasant surprise. Averaged just over 20 mpg.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

My first vehicle was a 1967 jeep CJ-5. It was my daily driver for 4 years so I know about them. That was nearly 30 years ago though.
Right now I have and use UTVs. I own 8 of them which I use for work primarily. They are great but ours don't have cabs or even windshields as they get broken or scratched up horribly in no time.
We have a couple far blinds at the ranch that never got hunted last season because no one wanted to freeze their butt off on the long drive there in a UTV. Call us wimps or whatever but in below freezing temps and wind chill from riding in a UTV they are no fun. By the time you get to the blind you are freezing to death and it makes for a miserable hunt.
Of course they offer UTVs with cabs and heaters but they are north of 20k. Looking used I see some decent jeeps in the 10k range. I am contemplating ditching the UTV I have at the ranch and replacing it with a jeep. I am thinking something from the 90s or early 2000's with heat and air and a hard top. I think it would go wherever I need to.
Has anyone done this? Any regrets or downsides? I wouldn't plan on registering or insuring it. I would plan on leaving it at the ranch full time.
I think my UTV would bring 15k easily. From what I have seen that would buy a lot of jeep. I just worry how one would far being left outside in the elements at the ranch. I don't have anywhere to store inside. I would be glad to take care of those blinds this winter. I have a SxS and have room for 1 more. 😉😂

I love my Jeep Cherokee ZJ body. 5.2l and full time 4WD. The leather seats and a/c are great too.
You can pick them up for quite cheap out there...

Friend of mine has a company lease with 5-6 2006-2010 F150 2wd 4.6 crew cabs with supper soft under inflated off-road tires. These trucks climb insane grades over bid heavy loose rock dirt and mud.... MIND BLOWING how tough these 2wd Fords are. Never get stuck or break down. Take a beating too. Way more comfortable than a jeep!

Hunted a ranch that was 8 miles to the back fence. I rode it on my Honda Rancher in 20° weather with no issues. Appropriate apparel makes the difference. And what age were you when doing this? Try doing it in your late 70"s I have done it also with roads of Sulphur River gumbo, if it wasn't frozen , it didn't have a bottom to it.

I drive a jeep daily (round trip is 50 miles to work) I also use same jeep to use at the deer lease and my blind is the furthest and I’ve had the rangers rzr’s and defenders and I prefer jeep 1000%. My lease is bout 35 min from my house so the whole hauling a side x side just to get to my stand (can’t get a truck across our creeks) got very old very quick. And trying to get everything out of the truck to take back to the stand when I have my kids with me just made it hectic. It works for me and I have no regrets. If I had to drive hours and hours to my lease I’m sure I’d prob haul My jeep out there and leave it for deer season.

Hey, I have been using a Jeep for years as a hunting vehicle. It blows my friend's mules and ATVs out of the water. I flat tow it to go hunting with a removable tow bar and built in trailer lights, no trailer needed. Been using this 1998 TJ since 2005 with essentially no mechanical issues. So I am a big fan off jeeps for hunting. Recently, my wife and I have had 2 kids and I let go of the hunting lease. If your serious about buying a hunting Jeep lets talk, I have been thinking of selling it recently anyways. I just ordered a new back seat for the back which is why the pictures don't match up. It also has a WW2 gun turret mount on the roof that has a conversion block for any gun with a picatinny rail if you are so inclined. PM me if you or anyone else is interested. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/10/full-35702-366809-img_2413.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/10/full-35702-366810-img_2415.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/10/full-35702-366811-img_2418.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2022/10/full-35702-366812-back_seat.jpg)
