We had our MLD season opener Saturday and my oldest boy, Cooper (6 year old), was adamant about going with me. He’s been practicing his shooting with his BB gun and .22, with a few shots here and there with his 22-250. We had been talking about him being ready for deer season and he and I both decided to let him get a few hogs under his belt before lining up on a doe this year. Saturday morning we got up early and headed to the stand. I went ahead and loaded his 22-250 and set it in the Caldwell Tack Driver rest once we got settled in. The feeder went off at 6:57am and shortly after the hogs started filing in. Cooper got instantly excited. I moved his chair around a bit and he got behind the gun and got comfortable. I started to video what was going on but it didn’t show much action. He was shaking like a leaf HA! He took some deep breaths to calm his nerves and he was ready. One hog run out away from the feeder and stopped. Cooper instantly turned the rifle, asked if I was ready, and squeezed one off and drilled her! I had to put a couple more rounds in her, but she was a dead pig after his first shot. Well before we went and hunted, I told him I'd give him $1 for every pig he hits. (You can hear the hit with the suppressor). $2 for every pig he kills that we can find, and $5 for every pig he drops in it's tracks. My wife told him $5 wasn't enough and he needed more money. So he starts bartering with me and said $20 for every one that drops in it's tracks. We eventually landed at $10. As soon as he got his wits back from the adrenaline rush, he looks at me and said "you owe me $10". Smart little turd.
